  • ID Quantique presents the ID230, the infrared single-photon counter with best-in-class dark count rate at telecom wavelengths and adjustable quantum efficiency up to 25%. It is designed for applications which require asynchronous photon detection.

This unique single photon detector based on InGaAs/InP avalanche photodiode working in Geiger mode provides fast avalanche quenching. That limits afterpulsing and allows you to run operations at reasonably short deadtimes which can be set between 2 us and 100 us. In addition, a new cooling system that can go down to – 90 °C gives the infrared single photon detector ID230 the lowest dark count rate available at the market. The ID230 single photon detector works thanks to an increased Stirling cooler with a very low afterpulsing probability and a timing resolution lower than 100 ps.

Low afterpulsing and dark count rate are combined with the best timing jitter and the highest quantum efficiency. The photon counting module can operate at detection probability levels of up to 25%.

The photon arrival time is reflected by a 100 ns LVTTL pulse which allows the photon detector to be easily combined with other electronic devices within your research.

Furthermore, the infrared single-photon counter ID230 has a simple USB interface allowing its users to set the efficiency, the temperature of the avalanche photodiode and the deadtime. Therefore, the features of the single-photon detector ID230 can be efficiently used in a number of applications such as Quantum Optics & Quantum Cryptography, Fiber Optics Measurement and other.
